Box : Black Angel with Denim Blue Glaze
One of the largest boxes. This box has a 5.5 x 5.5 inch footprint and is about 12 inches tall. Angel image wraps around this box and is glazed as a black angel greyhound with denim blue background. Fully glazed interior -- satin cream color.
Originally intended to be a special place to store a treasured collar, tags, photos, lock of hair, etc. but could be used to house the ashes (cremains) of a beloved Greyhound.
Totally hand built & glazed by me, Sarah Regan Snavely. This is a one of a kind piece. Signed.

Box : Home Sweet Home sleeping Greyhound box
This box has an 4 x 8 inch footprint and is about 5 inches tall (approximately). Sleeping Greyhound tops this box with Home Sweet Home tile design on two sides. Exterior is glazed in a rich green tone (gloss). Fully glazed interior.
Originally intended to be a special place to store a treasured collar, tags, photos, lock of hair, etc. but could be used to house the ashes (cremains) of a beloved Greyhound. I keep the ashes of my 52 pound female Greyhound, Esther, in a box similar to this size. Certainly could be used for many other things as well.

Box : Sleeping Greyhound on Rabbit tile box
This box has a 6 x 6 inch footprint and is about 6 inches tall without the Greyhound. Add nearly 2 inches to the height to include the Greyhound. My Bunny Rabbit tile image is used on all four sides. Glazed with two glazes overlapping so each pieces turns out exactly as it wants to. This one is a gray/blue/cream gloss finish. Interior of the box is fully glazed dark gray gloss.
Originally intended to be a special place to store a treasured collar, tags, photos, lock of hair, etc. but could be used to house the ashes (cremains) of a beloved Greyhound.

This box has a 4 x 4 inch footprint and is about 9 inches tall. Features four of the sitting Greyhound images on the box's sides. Tastefully glazed in a warm gray color with satin finish. Fully glazed interior.

Box : Upsidedown Angel Greyhound on Angel tile box
This box has a 4 x 8 inch footprint and is about 7 1/2 inches tall. My winged Greyhound Angel image appears on two sides of this box. Box is glazed in gloss glaze that turns out cream with blue/gray undertones. Fully glazed interior - worn denim color.

This box has a 6 x 6 inch footprint and is about 7 inches tall. Curled sleeping greyhound image appears on four sides. Handbuilt sleeping Greyhound adorns the top. This box is glazed in a muted gray tone, satin finish. The inside is emerald green gloss.

Box : White Rabbit with Leaping tile box
This box itself is about 4 x 4 x 4 square with an additional 2 inches in height with the bunny at the top. Leaping Whippet image appears on four sides. Box is glazed with two glazes overlapping each other-- sort of a blue with creamy undertones-- mostly glossy finish. The bunny is gloss white. Fully glazed interior (gray). You can see from the second photo that one of the sides has a surface crack. This does not affect the integrity of this piece.
Originally intended to be a special place to store a treasured collar, tags, photos, lock of hair, etc. but could be used to house the ashes (cremains) of a beloved Whippet. I use one like this to put my favorite jewelry in.

Sculpture : Modern Day Hunter
One of my Greyhounds, Winchester, is a carrier of stuffed toys. Often when I'm in the studio he'll trot in, carrying his latest "kill" and sit for attention. I think he is pleased with himself-- he is not interested in handing his toy over to me to throw like a retriever would. His "game" is all about the "look at me and see what I have."
I think most Greyhounds are "Modern Day Hunters" -- they biggest kill is the stuffed toy with squeakie.
This sculpture is entirely hand built. Made by me in my studio in Bowman, North Dakota. 19 inches tall. The platform he's sitting on is about 6 x 6 inches, but with the entire dog and toy the width is about 12 inches. Rich chocolate glaze with satin and gloss highlights. Some Greyhounds like my Kelly have an incredible drive to kill small, furry creatures (like rabbits). This drive is hard wired into his brain.
I like to think about what is going on inside my dog's head.

At this time I was working on this piece, I'd just gotten a new dog, Winchester. He is the first greyhound I've had who raises his paw in this way. I've since found out that many Greyhounds do this. The title referres to the color of the piece.

I made a few horses just to see if I could do it. I struggled with the spine more than anything -- I like to think of how the animal moves... My first horse had Greyhound spines. This was the most successful of the 3 horse pieces that I made. I still would like to get back to ideas that I had for equine imagery.
